Tennessee Confederate Application No. 12,915. Served under Capt. Johnathan Spencer, CSA. Born in Lincoln County, Tennessee, 1 November 1840. Enlisted December 1861. In what battles were you engaged and if not wounded, what disabilities did you receive? "None, Contracted erisypales in spring of 1862 and never recovered from it, was confined to hospital nearly all the time." Was not discharged from the army. Dr. Janeway attended him. "Was sick at Tullahoma in Spring of 1863 and came home unable to perform military duty until the war closed. Was not ever in prison, was not paroled, did not take the oath of allegiance to the United States Government. Married. Wife age 66, son age 28, daughter age 23. When able to work, works as a stonemason. Personal goods listed as house and lot in the County worth about $200, no personal property except household goods. Wife has no estate in her own right. States he has supported his family by working when able. Does not use intoxicants. Has been a resident of Tennessee all his life. Signed 5 June 1911. Witnessed by D. Goodrich, physician.
