In what County, State and year were your born? Answer: I was born 1843 Oct 29th in Lincoln Co Tenn 2. When did you enlist and in what command? Answer: I enlisted 12th day of May 1861, in Co. K, 8th Tennessee Infantry, Regt. Capt. William Thrash, Lameon L. Moore, Col commanding Col. Moore was killed dead on the field. Capt. Thrash mortally wounded, died next morning at Murfreesboro. I was in 10 or 15 feet of Col. Moore and saw him fall. 3. In what battle or battles were you engaged, and, if not wounded, state what disabilities did you receive, if any? Answer: Parryville, Murfreesboro, Chicamauga 4. What was the precise nature of your wound or disability, if any? Answer: (blank) 5. Higgins, County: Lincoln County, Tennessee. Supporting Documents: D. M. Gardner , M.D. swore on 6 June 1927 that J. V. Forrester suffered from old age and general infirmaties and was unable to work. War Department, adjutant generals office, June 27, 1927. The records show that J.V. Forrister (also borne as Forister, and Isaac V. Forister) Co. K 8th Tenn. Inf. C.S.A. enlisted May 16, 1861 at Camp Parris, Tennessee. Muster roll dated January 9, 18654 near Dalton, Georgia shows him present, a private. Capture, parole or later records are not found. Not found as J.V. Forester. His pension was accepted and there is a notation on the application that he died 7 July 1932.
