Greer of said State and County, desiring to avail herself of the Pension allowed to Indigent Widows of Tennessee Soldiers, under Act of General Assembly, approved April 1905, being Chapter 202 of the Acts of 1905, hereby submits her proofs, and after being duly sworn true answers to make to the following questions, deposes and answers as follows: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? Rhoda N. Greer, Reside near Petersburg, Tenn. 2. How long and since when have you been a resident of this State? 65 years 3. When and where were you born and what was your maiden name? in 1840, maiden name Rhoda N. Whorley 4. When and where was your husband born - state his full name, and when and where were you and he maried, and who performed the marriage ceremony? in Bedford Co Tenn 1838, Joseph Henry Greer was married Marshal County in 1856. 5. When and where and in what Company and Regiment did your husband enlist or serve during the war between the States? in Capt. Brown Company 41 Tenn Regiment at Richmond T_____ 1862 6. How long did your husband serve in said Company and Regiment? About 14 months 7. When and where did your husband's Comanpany and Regiment surrender? at Fort Donelson in 1863 8. Was your husband present at the time and place when his Company and Regiment surrendered? yes 9. If not with his command at surrender, state clearly and specifically where he was, when he left command, for what cause, and by what authority? (Blank) 10. When and where did your husband die? in Marshal Co Tenn died 8th day of March 1889 11. At the time of your husband's death were you living with him as his lawful wife? yes 12. How many children did you have by your said husband? Give sex and age at this time. 7 children, 2 Girls & 5 boys ages 19-28-32-34-36-38-41 years 13. What property, real or personal, or income do you have or possess, and its gross value? none to amount to anything 14. What property, real or personal, did you possess at death of husband or he left you, and what disposition, if any, by sale or gift, have you made of the same? a few household goods 15. Have you a family? If so, who composes such family? Give their means of support? What is your name and where do you reside? J W Hasting near Sparta Tenn 2. Are you acquainted with the applicant, Mrs. Rhonda N. Greer? If so, how long have you known her? yes, I have known her about 50 years 3. Where does she reside, and how long and since when has she been a resident of this State? near Petersburg Tenn, 64 or 5 years 4. When and where was she born? in Bedford or Marshal County Tenn 5. Were you acquainted with her husband? yes 6. When and to whom was he married? to Rhoda N. Whorley 1856 7. When and where was he born? Bedford County 8. How long have you known him? all my life - 60 years 9. When and where did John H. Greer enlist in the war between the States, and in what Company and Regiment did he enlist, and how do you know this? Capt Wm Browns Co 41 Tenn Regiment. I was in same Co. 10. Were you a member of the same Company and Regiment yes 11. How long did he perform regular military duty? about 14 months 12. When and where was his Company and Regiment surrendered? Fort Donelson in 1863. 13. Were you with the command when it surrendered? no 14. Was ______(blank) husband of applicant present? I think he was 15. If not present, where was he? (blank) 16. When and where did he leave his command? at Tupelo, Missippi [sic] For what cause? he was discharged for Disability By whose authority he left? by his Officers How do you know all this? I have been with him and heard him tell all this and have also heard him read his Discharge 17. When and where did he die? in Marshal County 4th Civil District 8th day of March 1889 18. Where did he reside at his death and how long had he been a resident of Tennessee at his death? in Marshal County Tenn, lived in Tenn. all his life 19. Do you of your own knowledge know that applicant is the lawful widow of John H. Greer? I do 20. Has she remained unmarried since her soldier husband's death, and is now his widow? yes 21. What property, effects or income has the applicant, if any, and how do you know this of your own knowledge? She has none to amount to anything. Possibly a few things in the house. 22. Has applicant conveyed any property in last two years or given any away, if so, what was it, and to whom? has not J. W. Greer, private, Browns' Company B (also designated H), 41st Tennessee Infantry, C. S. A., was enlisted November 4, 1861, and that he was discharged at Jackson, Mississippi, October 10, 1862.
