Whereas John KENNEDY has advertised me Mary- Ann his wife, for leaving his dwelling, as he says "without any just cause," which I his lawful wife do say is a Lie, for causes there are plenty. In the first place he kept quarrelling with me and my children, until he got them driven away, and then put in circulation many ridiculous tales concerning us; accused us of stealing feathers out of his bed, &c. all of which statements are Lies.---Therefore on the 25th night of May he quarreled with me so that as soon as I arose I left him, and now he says he can worship his Maker without any laughing at him or other disturbance in his house. By his Deputy, JOHN DUKE Sept. 1, 1827 from The Village Messenger, Fayetteville, Tennessee, Vol. 4, No. 18, September 28, 1827: DIED, In this town on Monday night, Mary, daughter of Maj. J. P. M'CONNELL, aged about 6 years. On the same night, an infant daughter of Ebenezer HILL, Senior editor of this paper. At his residence in this county, on the night of the 23d inst. Captain Randolph QUARLES, for a long time a citizen of this county. He was attacked with a violent bilious fever on Tuesday evening, and expired on the following Sunday evening, thus being ushered into the presence of his maker in the short period of six days from the time of his first indisposition. It would be useless for the pen of eulogy to attempt to do justice to the memory of Capt. QUARLES. The enquiry being made, who was the kind and obliging neighbor? Who was the fond and loving father?-Who was the tender and devoted husband?-Who was the mild and humane master?-Who was "the noblest work of God, an honest man"?-Capt. QUARLES. Yes, he was all this; and those who knew him best loved him most, he had been tried, and the more he was rubbed and examined the brighter and more resplendent he shone. In fine, he was a sterling man. His death is a great wound to society. The writer of these lines had not long known him, but he was attached to him from the first sight; for in him he saw the open, frank and candid gentleman. He is gathered to his fathers-he who gave hath seen fit to call his soul home. May the dear and affectionate partner of his bosom, and his little ones bear the great loss they have sustained with fortitude and resignation, and console themselves with the reflection, that he is now done with turmoil and strife and is beyond the reach of sublunary commotions and terrestrial disquietudes. -------------------- TRUSTEE SALE. In Fairfield District, South Carolina, May 16th Mr. Alexander MOORE, of this county, aged 25. His sudden and melancholy exit was occasioned by a fall from a horse, which he survived but an hour. His friends and relatives here, though thus unexpectedly bereaved of one of whom they had indulged the most pleasing anticipations, and whose untimely fate has inflicted an irreparable loss, have the soothing consolation, that though far from the paternal roof and the companions and associates of his youth, he was called to meet the summons of the grim messenger, he expired in the presence of an affectionate uncle, fervently calling upon the Lord, who alone can give relief in the last agonies of expiring nature, and in whose bosom they charitably hope, his emancipated spirit now enjoys eternal & ineffable repose. from The Village Messenger, Fayetteville, Tennessee, (rest of Masthead missing) June 1828: MARRIED.
