Greer, who died at his home, Sunday, at 7:30 a.m., after a lengthy illness of complications, were held Monday at 2:30 p.m., at the Presbyterian Church by Rev. T. E. Nelson, and the Rev. J. B. Alexander. He is the oldest son of the Joseph H. and Mary Edmiston Greer, and the grandson of Joseph Greer, who carried the message of the victory of King's Mountain to George Washington, who was sitting in Congress at Philadelphia at that time. He was a retired farmer and dairyman. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was an elder of the church for a number of years and was very active in church affairs until failing health prevented his attending. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Butler Greer, to whom he had been married fifty-two years, and five sons, Joe Greer, of Jefferson City; Claude Greer, of Union City; Hugh Greer, of Detroit; and Louis and Vance Greer, of Petersburg; and one granddaughter, Julia Joplin Greer, of Union City. Burial at Old Orchard Cemetery.
