Hastings, aged 79, who died suddenly in Fayetteville while ordering his lunch at the City Cafe Saturday afternoon, were conducted Monday afternoon at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church by Rev. N. Burch Tucker, pastor of the Shelbyville Methodist Church, and Rev. Ira E. Lutz, pastor of the Petersburg Church. Mr. Hastings, son of the late Jesse and Elsie Hastings was born and reared in the Mt. Zion community and had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Josie Watson Hastings; five sons, Clarence Hastings, of Talley Station; Herbert Hastings, of Belfast; Marvin Hastings, of Nashville; Robert Hastings, of Talley Station, and Ernest Hastings, of Florida; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Nance, of Shelbyville, and several grandchildren; one brother, Jesse Hastings, of Petersburg; one sister, Mrs. Lee Rambo, Fayetteville. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
