E. Scott, aged 72 years, who died Sunday, at 7:45 p.m. at the Lincoln County Hospital, after three weeks illness following an operation, were held Monday at the home at 3:00 p.m., by Rev. Walter Crawford, assisted by Rev. H. J. Burroughs, Prof. L. I. Mills and Mr. R. Kenneth Morgan. He was president of the first National Bank of Petersburg, a large land owner and a prosperous farmer. He was born and reared here, being the son of the late Noah B. and Mary Elizabeth Scott. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was active in all affairs of his community, was kind, always doing good for those less fortunate than he. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Octie Cummings Scott; two daughters, Mrs. Lindon Vaughn, Mrs. Coleman Whitaker; two sons, J. Cecil Scott and Ed W. Scott, all of Petersburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, R. B. Scott, of Petersburg; one sister, Mrs. Vanderbilt Pylant, of Akron, Ohio. Burial in Old Orchard Cemetery.
