MADISON, TN - CEMETERIES - Denmark C.M.E. Cemetery ========================================================================= David Donahue, the creator of this file, declares it to be in the public domain. ========================================================================= DENMARK C.M.E. CHURCH CEMETERY Madison County, Tennessee To reach Denmark C.M.E. Church cemetery, turn due south from Jackson-Denmark Road, in Denmark, onto Britton Lane Road and at 0.4 mile turn southwest onto Denmark C.M.E. Church Road; go 0.2 mile to the church and adjoining cemetery. There are about a dozen temporary markers with no information. When visited in September 2003, the grass was too tall, especially in the downslope area, to allow an estimate of how many graves might be unmarked. David Donahue recorded this cemetery on September 7, 2003 based on earlier work by Jonathan K. T. Smith. Mr. Smith's 1995 record appears in his Tombstone Inscriptions from Black Cemeteries in Madison County, Tennessee and a 2000 update appears in his Tombstone Inscriptions from Black Cemeteries in Madison County, Tennessee, Volume 2. These works are referred to collectively as Smith in the notes below. Barnes, Magnolia, Mar. 4, 1909-July 9, 1999, temporary marker, Bond Funeral Home, Milan, Tennessee, 4 feet south of marker for E.
