Madison County, TN Deed Book 19, pages 723-724: 
Written: August 18, 1857
Recorded: August 18, 1857

“Hiram Anthony to William R. Bryant [his son-in-law, married to his daughter, 

Sarah Anthony], deed, Registered August 18th, 1857: This indenture made this 

18th day of August in the year of our Lord, 1857 between Hiram Anthony of 

Madison County, state of Tennessee, and William R. Bryant of the county of 

Madison and state of Tennessee of the other part. Witnesseth that the said 

Hiram Anthony, for and in consideration of the sum of $1811 and __ cents to him 

in hand paid by the said William R. Bryant, and the receipt whereof is hereby 

acknowledged, hath…conveyed…unto the said William R. Bryant, a certain tract or 

parcel of land…being in the county of Madison…in District No. 10, bounded as 

follows:”



	“Beginning at a stake in the center of Hunt’s Road in George Hick’s 

line, running thence south with said Hick’s line 33 chains and 4 links to two 

hickory saplings in said Hick’s line, thence east 11 chains and 33 links to a 

frost oak in Hick’s corner, thence south with said Hick’s line 12 chains and 90 

links to two frost oak pointers in said Hick’s line; thence east with F. M. 

Davie’s line 13 chains and 33 links to a small hickory corner with two red oak 

pointers, thence north 44 chains and 20 links to a stake in the center of 

Hunt’s Road, thence with the center of Hunt’s Road south 88 degrees west 25 

chains and 16 links to the beginning, 101 acres, be the same, more or less.”
