Recorded: January 18, 1878

 “Hiram Anthony, Deed of Gift to Emily E. Brown, registered January 18, 1878. 

For and in consideration of the natural love and affection I have, and 

entertain for my daughter, Emily E. Brown, wife of W. H. Brown of this city of 

Jackson, I have this day given, granted and do hereby convey unto her, the said 

Emily E. Brown, the following described lot or parcel of ground situated, lying 

and being in the city of Jackson, and being the same lot conveyed to me this 

day by W. H. Brown and described as follows:”



“Beginning on W. Burnell’s SE corner in Lafayette Street, runs thence east 66 ˝ 

feet to a lot purchase by J. E. Glass of the Long estate, thence north about 

118 feet to Mrs. Walsh’s SE corner, thence west to Burnell’s line, 66 ˝ feet, 

thence to the beginning, about 118 feet, being the same lot conveyed to me this 

day by ?K. S?. Hightower. This January 18th, 1878.”



“To have and to hold the same to her, the said Emily E. Brown, free from the 

debts, liabilities and contracts of her present husband, W. H. Brown, either 

contracted or hereafter to be contracted, and free from any debts, liabilities 

or contracts of any future husband, with full power in her, the said Emily E. 

Brown to sell and convey the same by her husband joining in the conveyance and 

consenting to the same, but her said husband is not to have any authority over 

the same beyond such as she may delegate in the collection of rents and keeping 

up repairs. I warrant the title to the same to her, the said Emily E. Brown 

against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. Hiram Anthony.”
