Curlin to Miles C. Hays Deed This indenture made and entered into this 13th day of October 1851 between Miles C. Hays of the County of Madison and State of Tennesseess of the one part and Jesse J. J. Curlin of said County and State of the other part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twelve dollars and 96/100 [$112.96] in hand paid the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given, granted, bargained and sold unto Miles C. Hays a certain tract or parcel of land in said County of Madison in 4th civil district, and described as follows: Beginning at a stake, black oak and white oak pointers, the South West corner of Stephen Bryants 75 acres; thence South 105 poles [1732.5'] to a stake two beach pointers in Henry Smith's east boundary, and thence North 58 poles [957'] to a stake, his N. East corner, thence North 37 poles [310.5'] to the beginning, containing fifty six acres and twenty six poles [429'], to have and to hold the said aforesaid land, with all and singular the hereditaments and appertances thereunto belonging to the said Miles C. Hayes, his heirs and assigns forever against the claims of all and any person whatsoever, in testimony whereof the said Jesse J. J. Curlin hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date above written. Jesse J.J. Curlin (seal) Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of Albert G. Beaty C. Pearsey subscribing witnesses to the foregoing deed who after being first sworn depose and say that they are personally acquainted with Jesse J. J. Curlin, the within bargainor, and that he acknowledged, in their presence, the excecution of the deed to be his act and deed before the day it bears date, Witnesseth my hand, at office this [?] 1851.
