Curlin to David Meriwether for a sale price of $540. The land is adjacent to the land owned by Miles C. Hays and the Estenaulla lands in District 4 of Madison County, Tennessee. Note that Eaton Bond is a witness. Land involved: [Madison Co. TN District No. 4] MADISON COUNTY, TN REGISTER OF DEEDS DEED BOOK 16, PAGE 484 - 485 11 JAN 1851 / 25 May 1853 Jesse J.J. Curlin to David Meriwether Deed I J.J.J. Curlin have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to David Meriwether and his heirs forever for the considertion of five hundred and forty dollars [$540] to me paid a tract of land in the State of Tennessee, Madison County and District No. 4 containing by estimation one hundred and eighty acres [180] to be the same more or less and bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake hickory and black oak pointers the South east corner of a tract of land purchased of a Miles C. Hays (for about 20 acres) thence west with that line 250 poles [4125'] to a black gum on the range line; thence South with that line184 poles [3036'] to a stake hickory elm and sweet gum pointers near the Estenaulla lands, thence North 13 (?) East (?) the land 149 poles [2458.5'] to a stake black oak and two hornbeam pointers; thence East 113 poles [1864.5'] to a stake thence North 100 poles [1650'] to the beginning. Containing one hundred and eighty acres [180 acres] and 21 poles [346.5']. To have and to hold the same to the said David Meriwether his heirs and assigns forever I do covenant with the said David Meriwether that I am lawfully seized of said land having a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land and every part thereof to the said David Meriwether his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever this 11th January 1851. Curlin the within named bargainor and that he acknowledged in his presence the executing of the within deed to be his act and deed on the day it bears date. Brooks one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing deed who after being first sworn depose and say that he is acquainted with Jesse J.
