Jesse Russell Sr. Deed to Jesse & John Russell
Registered June 6th 1868
  This indenture, made this 6th day of June in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight
hundred & sixty- eight between Jesse Russell Sr. of Madison County, and State of
Tennessee of the one part, and Jesse Russell Jr. and John Russell of the County of
Madison & the State of Tennessee of the other part.  Witnesseth: That the said Jesse
Russell Sr. for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred dollars paid in cash
and work done by the said Jesse Russell Jr. and John Russell, the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged hath given, granted bargained, sold aliened, conveyed and confirmed
unto the said Jesse Russell Jr. and John Russell their heirs and assigns forever, his
entire interest in a certain tract or parcel of land, situated, lying and being in the
County of Madison and State of Tennessee, and the present corporation of the City of
Jackson, and bounded as follows to wit:

  Beginning at the South East corner of the lot, on which Maria Williams now lives, on
Lancaster Alley, Thence South sixty feet on the said alley, to a stake; Thence West
twenty feet; Thence North thirty feet; thence West parallel with Maria Williams & Peter
Blair's line as far as it extends, leaving thirty feet between, to Walnut street;
thence North to the Alley between this lot & John S. York's; Thence East to Peter
Blair's lot; thence South with his line to his South West corner; Thence East with the
said Blair & Maria Williams line, to the beginning.  It being the North end of the lot
formerly owned by John Mageverry, C. P. Winkler & others.  Containing more or less.

  To have and to hold the aforesaid Land, with all & singular the rights, profits,
emoluments, hereditaments and appurtenances, of, in and to the same belonging, or in
any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of them the said Jesse Russell
Jr. and John Russell their heirs and assigns forever.  And the said Jesse Russell Sr.
for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators do covenant and agree with the
said Jesse Russell Jr. and John Russell, their heirs or assigns, that the before
recited land, and bargained premises, he will warrant and forever defend against the
right, title, interest or claim of all and every person whatsoever.

In witness whereof, the said Jesse Russell Sr. hath hereunto set his hand and affixed
his seal, this the 6th of June, in the year above written.

Personally appeared before me, P. C. McCowat, Clerk of the County Court of said County,
the foregoing named bargainer, Jesse Russell Sr. with whom I am personally acquainted,
and acknowledged that he executed the foregoing instrument, for the purposes therein
contained.

I Joel R. Chappell, Register of said County do hereby certify that the foregoing Deed,
with Clerks Certificate and $1.00 in USR Stamp thereon, was duly Filed in my Office
this day at 11 O'clock A. M. and is noted in Minute Book No. 4 on page 308.
