Russell Gift Deed to John M. Prewett Trustee for Nancy D. Russell Filed June 15 1868 at 1 O'clock P. M. Whereas we, Jesse Russell Jr. and John S. Russell are desirous to make provision for our mother, Nancy D. Russell against future contingences and for her maintenance and support; and whereas, we the said Jesse Russell Jr. and John S. Russell are desirous that our mother Nancy D. Russell should have the entire control of the real estate herein after more particularly described, free from the control liabilities or interference of the husband she now has or any she may hereafter have: Therefore, for and in consideration of the love & affection we entertain for our mother, Nancy D. Russell we do hereby give, transfer and convey unto her a certain piece or parcel of ground with the appurtenances therein lying and being within the corporate limits of the city of Jackson Madison County Tennessee, and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at the South East corner of the lots in which Maria Williams now resides on Lancaster Alley, thence South sixty feet in the said alley to a stake, thence West Twenty feet, thence North thirty feet, Thence West parallel with Maria Williams & Peter Blair's line as far as it extends, leaving thirty between to Walnut Street, thence North to the alley between this lot and John S. York's, thence East to Peter Blair's lot, thence South with his line to the South West Corner, thence East with the said Blair and Maria Williams line to the beginning, It being the North side of the lot formerly owned by John Magaverry C. P. Winkler & others. To have and to hold all and singular the above mentioned and described premises together with the appurtenances, unto John M. Prewit, his successors or assigns In trust and to and for the several uses, intents and purposes herein after mentioned. Namely: In trust to covey the said land and premises & rents to such persons or persons as she, the said Nancy D. Russell, by her last will and testament or by any lawful instrument of conveyance, subscribed by her in the presence of two credible witnesses, notwithstanding her coverture, may direct and appoint. And the said John M. Prewit doth hereby covenant and agree faithfully to discharge and execute the same according to the true intent and meaning of the above trust, by entering his signature with the above named grantors. McCowatt, Clerk of the County Court of said County the foregoing named bargainers Jesse Russell Jr. and John S. Russell with whom I am personally acquainted and severally acknowledged that they the foregoing instrument for the purpose therein contained. And the Trustee, whose name is signed to said instrument, John M. Prewit having appeared before me acknowledged the acceptance of the trust imposed in him for the conditions and for the purposes therein expressed Witness my hand at office this 15th day of June 1868 P.
