THE FORKED DEER BLADE JACKSON,TENNESSEE SATURDAY JULY 12,1884 PERSONAL..The startling announcement last Wednesday afternoon that Qr.C.A.STILL had been killed by lightening,cast a gloom over the whole city.He was returning home from town and when near his residence,met his death,which was instantaneous.There was a slight contusion on his breast and a bruise on one of his eyes which latter was probably caused by his fall.He was 76 years of age,was a native of Ky.,came to Jackson a young man,never married. THE FORKED DEER BLADE JACKSON,TENNESSEE SATURDAY OCTOBER 25,1884 DIED..COBB-On October 20th.,of a malignant disease of the bladder,JNO.B.COBB in the 75th year of his age,He was born in Franklin Co.,N.C. in 1810; moved to Tenn.,in 1839; and first settled in Obion Co.Tenn.In 1841 he moved to Fayette County and successfully engaged in cotton planting and in a few years enlarged by investments in Ark.,and when the war broke out had large interest in both states.The tide of war swept away a fortune accumulated by industry and frugality.He was married twice.His first wife was Miss PETERS and left an only child,Mrs.LUCY ARMSTRONG of Birmingham,Ala.He married second Mrs.MARY ANN GUTHRIE of this city,his surviving widow. THE FORKED DEER BLADE JACKSON,TENNESSEE SATURDAY JANUARY 7,1885 APROMINENT CITIZEN KILLS HIMSELF..The sad death by suicide of Mr.G.F.NEILL Thursday cast a gloom over the whole city.He had once benn a prosperous merchant of our city,but was unfortunate and lost all he had,was out of employment and in consequence very much depressed.MR.MEILL made his home with his mother-in- law,Mrs.B.R.PERSON.About 1 o'clock he went into the coal-house,where he fired the fatal sot.The ball pentrated his heart.The report of this pistol was not heard,and it was some time before the family knew what had occurred.He left a wife and two interesting children,and scores of friends to deplore the losds. PERSONAL..TOMMIE TATE,nine-years-old,son of a widow lady living near the I.C.Shops was run over and fatally injured by the cars Tuesday evening about 3 o'clock.He was playing on the track near the shop yards and was amusing himself by placing pins on the rails.The switch engine with several cars made what is called a flying couple,and came detached from the cars while in motion.The little fellow seeing the engine pass,ran into the track and the following cars ran over him,almost severing from his body on leg and arm.He was carried to his home nearby and expired in a few minutes. THE FORKED DEER BLADE JACKSON,TENNESSEE SATURDAY OCTOBER 24,1885 DIED..ROCHELLE--At his home near Medon,on the 29th inst.,Mr.J.S.ROCHELLE; aged about 55 years.Deceased was onr of the prominent men of his section and was respected as an honorable and upright man by all who knew him. DIED..ALSTON-- Monday 26th,JNO.R.ALSTON,aged 39 years,of peumonia.The deceased was born and reared in Madison where he had a host of friends to mourn his loss.He was a kind,generous,and warm hearted always ready to respond to the call of sickness and distress.He was a consistant member of the Presbyterian Church and of the K.of P. We tender our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved wife and little children.
