B. HUSBAND OF M. J. LANEY Born Dec. 26, 1822 Died Oct. 8, 1884 (masonic symbol) Additional Comments: This is the stone of Green Berry LANEY, husband of Minerva J. MILLER LANEY. This is a massive heavy stone, anchored deep in the ground, and shows deep engraving with much detailed decoration and elaborate scrollwork. Behind the stone a large dense bush is growing that has pushed the stone progressively forward. At the time this was taken, the stone was at about a 45 degree angle. Attempts to right the stone were fruitless. This picture was taken by lying on the ground. The actual stone is very light in color. The colors of the stone have been accentuated in this photograph to make the inscription readable. Later cemetery surveys have reported that this stone has now been pushed too far over to be read.
