WILLIAM ELLIOTT



   William Elliott applied for revolutionary pension while living in Marion

County, Tenn., Aug., 17. 1833. He enlisted in Mecklenburg County, N. C., where

he then resided, in February, 1731. He moved from Mecklenburg County to Wilkes

County, Ga., where he lived two years. He then moved to Jefferson County, Tenn.,

to Bledsoe County, Tenn., and to Marion County. He married Miriam Leith, June

22, 1790. He died in Marion County, June 27, 1834. Miriam Leith Elliott survived

him and applied for widow's pension. August, 1842. Enclosed in pension

application are pages from the family Bible with the following information:

Marriages: William Elliott to Miriam Leith. June 22, 1790. She was 22 years old

and was born Oct. 12, 1768; Jenne (?) H. Elliott married Henry Baird, Oct., 31,

1809; Susanna Elliott married Thomas Walker, April 4, 1816; Betsy Elliott

married Risden,(?) Robertson, June 27, 1816; Nancy Elliott married Jesse Howard,

July 28, 1818; Joshua L. Elliott married Caty Moore, April 12, 1826; Benjamin

Elliott married, (word married appears but no name and no date); (?) Elliott

married John Bowen, May 5, 1825; Malinda Elliott married Thomas Payne, Jan.,

1828; William E. Elliott married Margaret W. Austin. No births of children are

given but presumably the list refers to the children of William and Miriam

Elliott. On the back of the Bible page are births of several children in the

Roberts family but no connection is shown with the Elliotts or Leiths.
