He was born in Granville, County, N. C., March 15, 1759. He volunteered under Capt. Douglass, Lieut. Thomas Healy, Ensign Burness and Col. James Williams in Caswell County, N. C. He served in the battle of King's Mountain when Col. Williams was mortally wounded. Mathew Pryor enclosed his discharge with his pension application. He enlisted again and served under Col. Yancy and Gen. Greene. He lost his horse in the battle of King's Mountain. He moved to Richmond County, Ga., to Granville County, N. C., to Washington County, Va., returned to North Carolina and then moved to Roane County, Tenn., and to Marion County, Tenn.
