Marshall County Deed Book I, p. 434. I, John R. Hill have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Nimrod Johnson and his heirs forever for the consideration of Sixty Six dollars and 75 cents to me rec’d for a tract of land in the state of Tennessee Marshall County and District Number 12 containing by estimation twenty two acres and 32 poles be the same more or less and bounded as follows: Beginning at James Kennedy’s north west corner and runs West 101 ˝ poles to a beech John Richeas South East corner thence south 35 poles to a rock and [can’t read] thence East 101 ˝ poles to James Kennedy’s corner thence with his line north 35 poles to the beginning containing 22 acres & 32 poles. To have and to hold the same to the said Nimrod Johnson his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said Johnson that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind my self my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land and every part thereof to the said Johnson his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever given under my hand and seal this February the 1st 1838.
