Marshall County Deed Book I, p. 459-460. I, Nimrod Johnson, have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Robt Wiley and his heirs forever for the consideration of fifteen hundred and seventy one dollars & 75 cents to me paid a tract of land in the state of Tennessee Marshall County and District No 14th containing by estimation one hundred and fifty eight acres and 60 poles be the same more or less and bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake and Elm? Pointer on the west boundary line of J.R. Hills land running south one degree west one hundred and forty six poles with said line to a rock it being James L.? Cowden’s northeast corner, thence west with said line one hundred poles to a stake with two [ ???] pointers thence north west one degree with Evins line one hundred and forty six poles to a stake & bush pointer thence west with Evins line sixty seven poles to a rock with two ash pointers thence north one hundred and eight & one half poles with a tract of land belonging to the heirs of John Richey, dec’d, to a stake in the field thence east with Baxters line ninety nine poles to a sugar tree with three sugar tree pointers thence south with M Caslins & Hills line one hundred and eight & one half poles to a rock at Hills southwest corner, thence east with said line sixty six & ¾ poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the same the said Robt Wiley his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said Robert Wiley that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered with exception of 1 acre & ¼ for a church lot. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs & representative to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land and every part to the said Robt Wiley his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever this January the 18th 1850.
