McClelland (seal) Rosy McClelland (seal) James Woods (seal) Joseph Guy JP Geo Robinson JP Jean Woods (seal) Margaret (her + mark) Watts (seal) Polly Killion (seal) Anne Pitchey (seal) On the back of the above power of attorney was written I (-----space-----) one of the acting Justices of the peace of Iredel County do certify that John McClelland & Rosanna his wife James Woods and Jane his wife and Margaret Watts personally appeared before me and the within power of attorney as witness my hand and seal this day of June 1813 Additional Comments: I've posted this information to the Iredell County, NC GenWeb Archives records because, even though the lands described herein lay in Maury Co., Tennessee, the people mentioned all resided in Iredell Co. at the time the power of attorney was written. This appears to be the action that prompted John Watts to hire an attorney to recover said lands from his siblings. The reasoning behind the power of attorney are unclear to me. I do not know what prompted the heirs of James Watts to take this legal action. The best guess is that someone (John Watts?) had taken possession of the 1200 acres in Tennessee and these people were attempting to take it back.
