Coleman appears to be her maiden name. The DAR Lineage Book that contains an abstract of her application was Volume 146, page 113 and was published in 1919. She was born in Boeuf, County of St. Mary, Louisiana. Her application was filed from Donaldsonville, Parish of Ascension, Louisiana, 21st of April 1919. She does not state the source of her information, but since she did become a member of the DAR, perhaps she contributed copies of her family Bible records to the DAR Bible Records project in Louisiana. It would help to know which DAR chapter she became a member of. She was descended from PHILIP ANTHONY and his wife, MARY ELIZABETH by way of their daughter, Elizabeth Anthony, who married William McWilliams. She gave no date of birth or death for Elizabeth Anthony. Her daughter was Elizabeth McWilliams McWaters, was born in 1824 and died in 1896 in Boeuf, County of St. Mary, LA., and she married Aaron McWaters. Their daughter was Mary Jane McWaters, born in 1850 and died in 1903. Mary Jane married Wade H. Coleman and Mrs. Willie Coleman Rentrop was their daughter. Mrs. Rentrop’s DAR application is the earliest source of the names of some of the husbands that this researcher has seen. Carrie True McWilliams also filed for DAR membership as a descendant of Elizabeth Anthony McWilliams, and her application was filed in 1905. Carrie was the first to name a William McWilliams as the husband of Elizabeth Anthony. This researcher has not seen Carrie McWilliam’s application. Mrs. Rentrop’s application is the source of the name “Webb” for Sarah Anthony’s husband, although there may be a better source available that I have not seen. Even though living in Louisiana, Mrs. Rentrop knew of MARY ANTHONY being married to THOMAS CLARK, although she was not part of the Illinois clan that assembled the pamphlet on the Clarks in 1912. This reinforces my conviction that a family Bible was the source of her list. I hope that this family Bible was not destroyed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, in New Orleans. Perhaps the current owner no longer was living there. Mrs. Rentrop gives the married name of Nichols to Elenor Anthony.
