Witnesseth that the said Faires for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and thirty six dollars and seventy five cents ($136.75) to him in hand paid the ___of is hereby acknowledged & hath granted & bargained and conveyed and doth by these presents grant, bargain, sell & convey unto the said James W Edwards a certain tract or parcel of land lying on the headwaters of Little Bigby in 8th Surveyors District and bounded as follows, viz Beginning at a stake in the middle of the big road at Wm W Duggins corner running thence south 10 º east sixty two poles to a stake thence south 46 º east twenty six (poles?) to a stake thence south 5 º east twelve poles to a stake in the middle of the big road thence east twenty poles to a hickory thence north thirty six poles to a stake and pointers. Thence north 10 º east sixty poles to a stake in said Duggins line. Thence south 82 º west thirty eight poles to the beginning by estimation containing fifteen and three fourths acres of land with all and every appurtenance thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to have and to hold the said land and premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto the said James W Edwards his heirs and assigns forever and said John Faires binds himself and his heirs to warrant and forever defend the right of the abovementioned tract of land to the said James W Edwards his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof the said John Faires has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date above written, in presence of Wm W Duggins John Faires A W McCasland State of Tennessee personally appeared before me William E Erwin Maury County Clerk of the County Court of Maury county the within named John Faires the bargainor with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the within deed for the purposes therein contained. Witness my hand at office this 27th day of July 1840 Wm E Erwin Clerk John Mack deed for 35 3/4 acres of land executed by J W Edwards & recorded this 15th Augt 1840 State of Tennessee for Maury county This indenture made and entered into between James W Edwards of the county of Maury and state of Tennessee of the one part and John Mack of the county & state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars ($400) to him in hand paid by the said John Mack to the said James W Edwards the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said James W Edwards has this day sold and conveyed to the said John Mack the following two tracts of land situate(sic) in Maury County Tennessee and on the headwaters of Little Bigby and bounded as follows, to wit The first beginning at an Ash John Faires north west corner in the big road running west with Wasson line to a stake Thence south one hundred twenty poles to a stake two sugar trees pointers. Thence East to the big road to a stake & pointers. Thence north with said road to the beginning corner and by estimation containing twenty acres more or less- The other bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at a stake in the big road on the east boundary line of the above ascribed tract William W Duggins corner running thence south 10º East 62 poles to a stake Thence south 46º East twenty six poles to a stake Thence south 5º East 12 poles to a stake in the middle of the big road. Thence East 20 poles to a hickory. Thence north 36 poles to a stake & pointers. Thence North 10º East 60 poles to a stake in said Duggins line. Thence south 82º West 38 poles to the beginning containing by estimation 15 3/4 acres more or less to have and to hold the above described tracts of land together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto in any wise belonging and the said James W Edwards hereby binds himself to warrant and forever defend the title to the above ascribed land and bargained premises to said John Mack his heirs assigns & forever against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatever. Stockard's Deed Executed by James W Edwards March 26th 1852 Filed May 13th 1852 at 1 1/2 oclk PM This indenture made and entered into this 26th day of march in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two (1852), between James W Edwards of the county of Maury and State of Tennessee of the one part, and George C. Stockard of the county and state aforesaid of the other part-Witnesseth: that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty two hundred dollars ($2,200) to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said James W Edwards hath this day bargained sold transferred and conveyed, and by these presents doth bargain, sell, transfer and convey unto the sd George C. Stockard, a certain tract or parcel of land situate (sic) and lying on the waters of the East Fork of Little Bigby Creek, in the county of Maury and state of Tennessee, and near the village of Bigbyville, containing about twenty eight (28) acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: Beginning at a set rock in the center of the Mount Pleasant Road 10 poles west of the center of the Creek where said Road crosses the same-Running west thirty five poles and eight links to the south east corner of Little Bigby Academy Lot-Thence North nine poles and eight links to the North East corner of said Academy Lot or southern margin of a right of way granted by Thomas Jones to the trustees of Little Bigby Academy, as a water privilege for the benefit of said Academy-Thence North crossing said right of way to the south boundary line of John J. Zollicoffer and North margin of the aforesaid right of way-Thence wet with said Zollicoffer's line, about eleven poles more or less, to the northwest corner of said Academy Lot-Thence south ten poles to the south west corner of said Lot-then west 26 poles to a placed rock in Isaac I Thomas-east boundary line-thence north 1 1/2 º east with said Thomas line 64 66/100 poles to a rock in the center of the east fork of Little Bigby Creek, it being James H. Brinkley's south west corner, thence east 60 8/10 poles with said Brinkley's south boundary line to a placed rock in the Bigbyville and Columbia Road-Thence south with said road thirty one poles and eight links to a set rock-Thence east with said road fifteen and one half poles to a placed rock on the west margin of Spring Street as laid down in the plat of Bigbyville-thence south with the west margin of said street to a stake near where said street intersects the creek and in John J. Zollicoffer's south boundary line-thence west with said line five poles to a placed rock, Witherspoon & Stockard's northwest corner on the north margin of the right of way granted to the trustees of the Little Bigby Academy-Thence south crossing said passway 9 poles and eight links to the beginning. To Have and to hold the said tract or parcel land with all its hereditaments (?) and appurtenances thereunto belonging (except four sevenths of an undivided interest belonging to the minor heirs of William Kerr deceased, the whole amounting to about one acre and a half, and included in this survey) to the said George C. Stockard, his heirs, administrators and assigns forever-And the said James W Edwards doth covenant and agree for himself, his heirs, his administrators and assigns forever, to warrant and forever defend the title of the said land to the said Stockard, his heirs, Administrators and assigns forever. Padgett, clerk Witherspoon & Stockard's Deed Executed by J W Edwards March 25th 1852- Filed May 13th 1852 at 1 1/2 ock p.m. This indenture made and entered into this 25th day of March in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty two between James W Edwards of the county of Maury and state of Tennessee of the one part, and John W Witherspoon and George C. Stockard (trading under the name and firm of Witherspoon and Stockard) of the aforesaid county and state of the other part-Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said James W Edwards hath this day bargained, sold, transferred and conveyed, and by these presents, doth bargain, sell, transfer and convey unto the said John W Witherspoon and George C Stockard, a certain tract or parcel of land, lying on the waters of Little Bigby, near the village of Bigbyville, in the county of Maury and state of Tennessee, containing two acres more or less, and bounded as follows- Beginning at a set rock, George C Stockard's south east corner in John P. Zollicoffer's south boundary line-Running east 5 poles to the center of the creek in said said(sic) Zollicoffer's old line, and with said line east dividing the old spring to or near the mouth of the cave, George W. Hunts in George W Hunt's west line Thence south with said line to the old Road, and south west corner of said Hunt's Lot-Thence east with said Hunt's line to William and D S Shields west boundary line-Thence south with said Shields line to a point due east of the new spring-Thence west to and dividing said spring 10 feet west-Thence south to the margin of the road-Thence west with said road crossing 10 poles from the center of the creek to a set rock in the center of said road George C Stockard's beginning-Thence north 9 poles and eight links to the beginning-To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all its hereditament and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said John W Witherspoon and George C Stockard their heirs, administrators and assigns forever-And the said James W Edwards doth covenant and bind himself, his heirs, administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the title of said land to the said Witherspoon & Stockard, their heirs, administrators, and assigns forever. Trustees Deed executed by J W Edwards et al July 10th 1852, Registered October 16th 1852 This indenture made and entered into this the Tenth day of July one thousand eight hundred & fify two (1852) between J W Edwards, J A Mack, Wm C Edwards, J W D L F Mack, Trustees of the meeting house of the Christian Church at Bigbyville and James Kannon of the one part and J W Witherspoon, Simpson Perry, John S. Perry, Thos P Wortham, Samuel Hanwell, Jas S Perry and Jas M Hanwell as trustees for the Methodist E C South. Witnesseth-that the said first above named trustees for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars ($300) to them in hand paid as Trustees by the said above named J W Witherspoon and his co-Trustees as aforesaid and their successors in office hath this day bargained and sold and by these presents do hereby transfer and convey unto the last above named trustees, the meeting house of the Christian church in Bigbyville and lot whereon the same is located which lot is situated in the town of Bigbyville, Maury County Tenn and known and designated in the plan of said town as lot no. 1-the south part and bounded as follows. Beginning at a stake and two oak stumps on a rocky bluff being in the N.W. (?) of I Joneses original tract thence North 1/2 º east with Joseph Davis west boundary six poles to a stake from which south 83 3/4 º east at 6 poles & 18 links is a black locust-Thence north 89 1/2 º W nine poles to the street-thence S 1/2 º W 6 poles to Jones' line. Thence south 89 1/2 º E to the beginning, containing 54 poles-The said J W Witherspoon and others as Trustees of the Methodist E C South to have and to hold the said House and lot as a house of Public Worship for the Methodist E C South in as full and complete a manner as the Christian Church at Bigbyville has heretofore done. It is further understood between the contracting parties that the sum of fifty and 75/00 dollars ($50.75) paid by the public who do not belong to the the (sic) Christian Church towards building said house is transferred to the Methodist church without pay or compensation to the said Trustees of the Christian Church and it is further understood that the said meeting house is transferred to the Methodist with the same liberalities upon which it was built by the Christian Church. The said house and lot to belong to and be holden (sic) by the said trustees of the Methodist E C South in as full and complete a manner as if they had builded (sic) the same, with all the rights, privileges and amenities which said church usually have and hold in and over their houses of public worship. And the above named James Kannon upon his part doth hereby sell alien (?) and convey unto the said J W Witherspoon and other Trustees of the the (sic) Methodist E C South all his reversionary interest in the above described lot which he the said Kannon reserved in his deed of gift to the trustees of the Christian Church and doth hereby convey the said lot in fee simple to the said J W Witherspoon and others trustees and their successors in office the further covenants to defend the right and title to the reversionary interest in said lot to the said trustees against the Lawfull (sic) clause or clauses of any person claiming through or under him-In witness of all which we have hereunto set our hands and seals this day and date first above written Test. Boyd of the county and state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two thousand dollars ($2000) to them paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the sd James W and William C Edwards have this day bargained, sold, alleviated and conveyed and by these presents do bargain, sell, alleviate and convey to said Andrew T. Boyd a certain tract or parcel of land, situated, being and lying on the west fork of the Little Bigby Creek in sd county of Maury and state of Tennessee and on which the said Andrew T Boyd now resides and bounded as follows: Beginning at James Kannon's southeast corner in the center of the west fork of Little Bigby creek in the sd Andrew T Boyd's north boundary line. Thence north 12 ºeast 20 and 5/10 poles to a red oak in the west side of the creek. Thence north 6 º west 11 poles to a set rock, red oak & transferred (?) pointer. Thence north 19º east 22 5/10 poles to a set rock with _____ elm___. Thence north 48 1/2 º west fourty 5/10 poles to an elm thence north 48 º west 14 poles to a stake near an oak stump. Thence north 34 1/2 º west 16 6/10 poles to a stake thence north 27 º east 22 poles to a set rock with a Lynn (?) pointer. Thence north 26 1/2 º east 33 6/10 poles to set rock, thence north six poles to a set rock. Thence south 88 1/2 º east (crossing the creek at 19 poles) in all 52 poles to a pile of rock with two sugar trees, then south 30 º east 15 4/10 poles to a rock pile thence south 89 º east 17 1/10 poles to a set rock and elm pointer. Then south 4 1/2 º west sixty 9/10 poles to a stake in said Boyd's north boundary with a cherry pointer, thence north 89 º west with Boyd's line 34 poles to the beginning containing 57 acres and 150 poles be the same more or less, to have and to hold the described trace or parcel of land with all the appurtenances & hereditaments hereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said Andrew T Boyd his heirs and assigns or other legal representatives forever and the sd James and William C Edwards bind themselves to warrant forever, defend the right, title to the said trace of land against the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whomsoever. WITNESSETH, that the said Jacob Wright for, and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Wm Edwards its receipt ___ is hereby acknd ___ given, granted, bargained, sold, ___ conveyed & confirmed ____ said Wm Edwards, his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land, lying & being in Maury County on the North side of Duck River, bounded as follows: BEGINNING at a Dogwood on the boundary line of Tyree (?) Rhoads tract, running N 87 1/2 degrees west, __sd Rhoads line, twenty one poles to a stake & Sassafras pointer. Thence north four hundred & fifty poles to a stake on the north boundary line of a tract of land conveyed by Geo Deachiek (?) & Howel ____ to Jacob Wright thence south 88 degrees east seventy one 1/12 poles to a Black Gum & Beech. Thence south with Adonijah Edwards line four hundred fifty poles to the beginning. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the lands hereby conveyed, ____ & singular the premises & every parcel thereof with every (?) of the appurtenances unto the said Wm Edwards his heirs & assigns forever-said Jacob Wright, his heirs, Executors & administrators, to covenant, promise & agree to with the said Wm Edwards his heirs & assigns by these presents that the premises before mentioned, now and forever hereafter, shall remain free of & from all former & other gifts, grants, bargains, sales, Dowers, rights & title of Dower Judgments, Executions, Titles, troubles, charges and encumbrances whatsoever done or suffered to be done by the said Jacob Wright & the said J.
