Registered 5th March 1818               } 

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas C. Faris of Maury County 
Tennessee, for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and eight 
dollars, to me in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents 
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained, 
sold, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, 
sell, convey and confirm unto Alexander Faris of same Maury County, a certain 
tract or parcel of land, containing eighty-five acres, situate, lying and 
(being in Maury County aforsd, being part of a tract which was granted to the 
late Gen. N. Greene, by the state of North Carolina) which sd parcel of land 
is butted and bounded as follows: viz., Beginning at an elm and dead mulberry, 
John Williams Southwest corner and running thence North to 10' West fifty four 
and three fourths poles to a stake, thence South 87E 45' West ninety eight and 
one fourth poles to a stake, thence North 1E 10' West, one hundred twenty 
poles to a stake, thence South 1E 10' East, one hundred and seventy five poles 
to a walnut, thence North 87E 45' East one hundred and forty five poles to the 
Beginning. To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises to him 
the sd Alexander, his heirs and assigns forever - and I the sd Thomas C. for 
myself, my heirs, Executors and administrators do covenant to and with the sd 
Alexander, his heirs and assigns, that I have good right and lawful authority 
so to sell and dispose of the premises aforsd and the peaceable possession of 
the same to the sd Alexander, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims 
or demands of any person or persons whatsoever, I hereby warrant and defend. 
In Testimony whereof, I have hereto set my hand and seal this 19th March in 
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen.
