McKee of the one part and Alvis J. Riggs and Pleasant Fitzgerald of the other part all of the County of Maury and state of Tennessee--- Witnesseth that whereas George W. McKee is in debt to Alvis J. Riggs to the amount of Two hundred and seventy Dollars as will more fully appear by reference to the following notes (viz) one note to Archibald Campbell for one hundred and Eight Dollars Riggs security due 7th day of February 1839, One note due A.J. Riggs, April 10th 1838 for fifty Dollars one note payable to Milton Carter for seventy five Dollars & six cents Riggs security one due bill for five Dollars due the 9th May 1837 one note made by said McKee to said Riggs for seventy Eight Dollars due 2nd day of February 1839 and the said G.W. McKee being anxious to secure the said debt to said Riggs made this indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the above described notes and the further sum of five Dollars in hand paid A.J. Riggs hath bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth sell and convey unto Pleasant Fitzgerald the following described property in trust for the benefit of A.J. Riggs (viz) one bay mare three beds bedstead and furniture together with my other household and kitchen furniture one cow & calf--- To the only proper use of him the said Fitzgerald Intrust to secure the payment of the aforesaid debt or any part thereof remain unpaid on the 1st day of May Eighteen hundred and forty then the said Fitzgerald shall at the request of the said A.J. Riggs proceed to sell the above described property or so much thereof as will be sufficent to satisfy said debt & cost by giving ten days notice thereof at three or more public places of the sale thereof and the balance of the money arising from the sale of the property sold if any there beith will pay over to said McKee on his order--- In witness whereof we have set our hands and affixed our seals sixth day of March 1839-Signed sealed and delivered in presents of, J.
