MAURY COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - James J. Thurmond and George Hudspeth to Peyton C. Smithson, 30 May 1850 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Peyton C. Smithson deed Executed by Thurmond to Hudspeth on 30th day of May 1850 and filed July 10th 1850 This indenture made and entered into this 30th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty by James J. Thurmond, and George Hudspeth of the one part and Peyton C. Smithson of the other part all of the State of Tennessee and the County of Maury. Witnesseth that we James J. Thurmond and George Hudspeth for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged to bargain sell and convey to the said Peyton C. Smithson a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Maury and State of Tennessee on the north side of the Duck River bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a beech in Robert McKee's line marked JHDOHGH and formerly being Nancy Moors southwest corner, thence running east forty five and a half poles to a beech marked GHDOH thence south ten degrees east one hundred and eleven poles to a rock or marking thence south sixty degrees east seven poles to a state. Then north eighty-four degrees west thus chains seventy links to a white oak, then south twenty-nine degrees west five chains and seven links to an elm, then to seventy-five degrees west one pole to a state in Robert McKee's line. Thence north twenty-six degrees west six poles to a marker. Thence north with Robert McKee's line to the beginning to contain sixty-five acres be the same more or less. We the said James J. Thurmond and George Hudspeth do bind ourselves our heirs, administrators or assignees to warrant and defend the before described land with all it appurtenances unto the said Peyton C. Smithson his heirs and administrators or assignees forever against the lawful claims of all and every person or persons given under our hands and seals the day and date above written. Test: T.C.
