SAMUEL MAYES



   Samuel Mayes applied for revolutionary pension while residing in Maury

County, Tennessee, in 1832. He was born in Sumter County South Carolina, in

1759. He died in Maury County after 1840. He served in the battles of Savannah,

Cowpens and King's Mountain. He married twice; his second wife was Mary

McCottery. Among his children was Jane Frierson Mayes, born 1807, died 1851, who

married James Morrison Arnell.
