Columbia,Tennessee Friday August 24,1849 THE SONS OF TEMPERANCE--will have a celebration at Mt.olivet Church, Bear Creek on tomorrow.Rev.President RAGSDALE & G.GANT,Esq.,will deliver addresses.It is Expected that P.P.NEELY,D.D. will be present. A MAN--named LINDSEY was sentenced to three years imprisonment in the Penitentiary at a late term of Court of Bedford County. DR.JOHN S.McNAIRY--for several years Superintendent of the Lunatic Asylum of this State died at Nashville last Saturday. CHOLERA IN GALLATIN--The Cholera broke out again at Gallatin on Thursday morning last,and thirtenn whites and ten colored,died on Thursday and Friday.Among the number was DR.EDWARDS,a distinguised physician of that place. Drs.RANDOLPH, ROBERTSON, and HAUGHTON,of this city promptly repaired to the assistance of their professional brethren in Gallatin,on learning of their necessity. A FIRE broke out at Gallatin on Friday night,destroying the house of DR.DOUGLASS, and some other buildings. DISSOLUTION NOTICE--The partnership heretofore existing between the undersigned,in the Cabinet-making business,was this day dissolved by mutual consent.Those indebted to the firm are requested to come forward and settle their account.F.BUTLER has to pay the firm debts. COMMITTED TO THE JAIL--of Maury County,Tennessee,on the 18th May 1849, a negro man who calls his name JOHN, and is twenty-two years of age; weighs one hundred and sixty pounds,five feet five and a half inches high,copper color sround his head and speaks slow when spoken to, but looks very pleasing.The nail of the second finger on the left hand has been split and shows the scar and has another scar on the fourth finger of the same hand,and says he belongs to WILLIAM CHESTER of Montgomery County Ala; and that he left home the 25th of December last. The owner or owners are hereby notified to come forward and prove property,pay charhes and take said boy away,or he will be dealt with as the law directs.May 25,1849. JAS.W.
