JACKSON COLLEGE--The Examination of the Students of Jackson College will commence on Wednesday the 20th inst.The members of the Philo Rhetorican Society will hold their anniversary on Thursday evening, the 21st,at the Masonic Hall,and will be addressed by T.C.CALHOUN and A.O.PICKENS.The members of the Neatrophian Society will hold their anniversary on Friday evening,the 22d,at the Masonic Hall, and will be addressed by the following members of the Society: E.M.BRANCH, J.L.BRANDON, J.N.EWING, W.M.LEFTURCK and J.A.McRADY. On Saturday,there will be a procession from the Masonic Hall to the College.An Address will be delivered by the Rev.Dr.M.M.HINKLE, of Nashville. OUR FRIEND HORNE--of the "Middle Tennessean," is informed that a "friend" who related the "CHASR" story to him,is in error throughout. We would let it pass as a good joke if the conclusion of the story has not cast an undeserved imputation on the character of some six or seven of our Maury county citizens. DIED--On Saturday May 26,MRS.MARY BOSWELL BROWN,wife of JOHN BROWN, in the sixty-second year of her age.MRS.BROWN was the daughter of CHAPMAN GORDON,Esq.,of Wilkes County,N.C.She was married about thirty-five years ago;and since that time,had been a resident in this vicinity.For a long period,of late,her health was feeble; and she spent the summer-months at the Springs in possession of her husband,a few miles distant; generaly,if not always,returning to her home in an improved condition.MRS.BROWN was one of the earliest members of the Presbyterian church in Columbia.Into the sphere occupied by MRS.BROWN as a daughter,sister.wife and relative. (much more written,but of no genealogy value.) VALUABLE HOUSE AND LOT FOR SALE--By virtue of a decree of the Hon. Chancery Court,I will on the 30th day of June,(the present month), at the Market-house in Columbia,sell to the highest bidder,on a credit until the 1st day of March next,the Lot and Brick House situated in Columbis,formerly belonging to JOHN JONES,now deceased.
