WE ARE GLAD TO LEARN--through the Maysville Herald,that the rumor of B.B.MEEKER's drowning has been quieted by his safe return. TAX SALES--by virtue of an order to sale from the honorable Circuit Court of Maury County,at the January term,1849,I will proceed to sell for cash,to the best bidder,for the taxes of 1848,as the law directs,at the South door of the Courthouse,in the town of Columbia, on the first Monday in July next,the following tracts of land,town lots,or parts of lots.or so much thereof as may be sufficient to pay the tax and costs on each severaltract or lot.In District No.7,65 acres of land,belonging to the heirs of WILLIAM ROBERSON,adjoining the lands of B.F.MACON,J.RENFRO,& ESQ.WORTHAM.Valued at $325,tax 62 1/2 cents,collector's fee $1.00,clerk's fee $1.50,printer's fee $1.50.Total:$4.62 1/2.
