R.H.DRURY--Engineers,are in town and will commence the Survey of Duck River,as soon as the weather is suitable. THE SHOCK--of an earthquake was sensibly felt in Memphis on the 13th inst. IT IS SAID--that GENERAL TAYLOR has written to GEN.SCOTT,inviting him to return to Washington and make his headquarters. THE NEW YORK COURIER & ENQUIRER--announces the arrival of the Ship Liverpool at that port,having lost at sea,during her passage,some forty passengers by cholera,and with some aboard still sick. THE INDISCRIMINATE--is the title of a new tri-weekly paper just started here,to be devoted to literature,science,the latest news,and the latest wit.It is published by J.W.WHITE & E.D.DILLON,who,we hope,understand how to live economically. LOST--On the road between Columbia and Nashville,a pocket-book, containing sixty-one dollars in money,and notes on the following persons: A note on DR.JNO.P.SPINDLE,dated about the first of February,1849,due 12 months after date,for sixty-five dollars; A note on ELIAS J.ARMSTRONG, due March 1st,1849,for sixteen dollars and ninety odd cents; A note on JAS.F.JOURDON, due at date,and dated about October or November,1848,for thirty one or between thirty one and two dollars; A note on ANNISON MILLER,due 25th December 1849,for twelve dollars.This is to caution all persons against purchasing said notes,and any person finding said pocket-book,and returning it with the money and notes to the subscriber,shall be liberally rewarded.
