STRONG,Executor. HOMICIDE--MR.FRANK M.DANIEL,an old man residing in Clark County, Ky.,was shot dead at Winchester on Tuesday morning last,by a young man named RION. HOMICIDE--The Pulaski Gazette has the following:Cornersville, August 18,1854.MR.ESTES: MR.DAVID LAWRENCE was murdered on his farm, four miles South-east of this place by his negro man on yesterday morning. The old gentleman had ordered the negro to go to mowing in one part of the field, but he disobeyed his master and went to work in another place; the old man went to where the boy was and ordered him back, when he struck his master with the scythe in the region of the heart, nearly severing his body in twain, and death ensued before anyone could reach the spot. The negro attempted to escape, but was pursued and overtaken. No one but a small negro boy saw the transaction, though the negro does not deny the killing, but says he done it accidently in fending off a blow aimed at him by his master, but that is an imperfect tale,as there were two cuts, both of which could not have been accidental.A large crowd soon gathered in,and all were unanimous in the opinon that the negro was guilty of premediated murder and nearly the entire voice of the crowd was for hanging him to a tree without judge or jury, but he was hurried off to jail in Lewisburg to await his trial before the proper tribunal.MR. LAWRENCE was about sixty-five years of age, very highly esteemed as an honoeable, upright and good man,and leaves a wife,a large family of children, and an extensive circle of friends to lament his awful and untimely fate.Respectfully your friend,P.
