In the name of God Amen
I James Fairis of the State of Tennessee and County of Maury being very sick 
and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God Calling into 
mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men 
have and to die so make and ordain this my last [will] and testament that is 
to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand 
of almig[h]ty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to [be] 
berryed nothing doubting but at the Great Resurrection day I shall receive the 
same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate 
wherewith it has pleased God to help me in this life I give bequeath and 
dispose of the same in the following manner and form
First I give to my beloved daughter Polly a bed and furniture and a horse, 
[word unclear] Such as will be equal to what the rest of my children have got
Second I give and bequeath to Mary my dearly beloved wife all my Estate both 
real and personal during her lifetime at her death the land to be given to my 
sons Lindsey and Robert the rest of my property to be divided amongst my 
children as she thinks proper
thirdly I do appoint James Files and Moses Robison to be Executors of this my 
last will and testament in the witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and 
seal this 16 day of August 1815
