 15 Jul 1909, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK

Mary M. Brooks, daughter of John F. and Hannah Brown, was born in McNairy
county, Tenn., , and died at Anadarko, Okla. July 5, 1909,
aged 73 years, 2 months and 22 days.
She was married to H. A. Brooks in 1863, and has three children all living
and having families.  Her son, O. D. Brooks, lives at Anadarko and it was
with him that she was making her home at the time of her death.  Her two
daughters reside at West Plains, Mo.  She also leaves one sister, Mrs.
Corbitt of Lick Creek, Ill., and one brother John T. Brown of Erick.
She professed religion and joined the Baptist church in November 1861 and
has lived a devoted Christian life.  She had a motherly heart and has
always shown a forgiving spirit.  Though she had many troubles she always
bore them without mumuring or complaint.
