Emmons Rites Thursday Lee Haskell Emmons, 79, longtime resident of Route 2, Honey Grove, died suddenly at his home Tuesday evening, March 31, 1964, at 7:05 o'clock. The funeral was announced at presstime Wednesday for 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, April 2, at the First Baptist Church. Named officials were the church pastor, the Rev. A. M. Davenport, minister of the McKinzie Methodist Church and the Rev. E. W. Gorom, First Christian Church minister. Cooper-Sorrells will direct interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Named pall bearers were Floyd Burgess, Robert Shelton,Sr, Staley Seale, Dan Baker, Billy Matthews, and R. M. McCleary. Members of the Berian Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers. A native of Corinth, Tennessee, Emmons was born October 14, 1884 the son of John N. Emmons. He was married to Bessie Garrison on October 30, 1910. Mr. Emmons was member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Emmons of the home; two sons, Lloyd Emmons of Dallas and LeRoy Emmons of Mesquite: two brothers, Paul Emmons of Waco and Dewey Emmons of Lubbock; a sister, Mrs. Newt Yarbrough, Honey Grove, and three grandchildren. Emmons is John Nixon Emmons, born November 9, 1861 in McNairy County, Tennessee. Sons are Lloyd Thomas Emmons, born March 18, 1911 and Lee Roy Emmons, born February 27, 1914. Brothers are Thomas Paul Emmons and Aaron Dewey Emmons. Sister is Cordelia Mae Emmons Yarbrough. ================================================================================ ***Note from Contributor: My grandfather was, Lee Haskell Emmons, who was born in McNairy county, Tennessee. He later moved as a child to Fannin county, Texas. He spent the remainder of his childhood and all of his adult life in the Honey Grove, Fannin, Texas area. His father was born in McNairy county, Tennessee along with two older brothers, Oscar Herbert Emmons and John Roy Emmons.
