He enlisted in the Revolutionary Army in 1775, while residing in Braintree, Norfolk County, Mass., and served nine weeks as fifer in Capt. Nathan Alden's Massachusetts' Company. He enlisted again in 1776 and served six months in Capt. Alden's and Capt. Nathan Snow's Companies, Col. Jeremiah Hall's Massachusetts Regiment. He enlisted again in the spring of 1778 and served nine months as drum and rifle major under Lieut. Zachariah Watkins in Cols. Woods and Bailey's Massachusetts Regiment. He enlisted again in the spring of 1781 and served under Capt. Mark Packard. He was in the skirmish at Morrisania and at the capture of Cornwallis. After the Revolution he moved to Halifax County, N. C., thence to Edgefield District. S. C., thence to Hancock County, Ga., thence to Cocke County, Tenn., thence to that part of Rhea County, which was later Meigs County, Tenn., where he died. He applied for pension while living in Meigs County, May 3 1836. There is no information in the pension applicaton concerning his family.
