Order of sale 

_____ Wm Williams a justice of the peace for Monroe County and filed the 

papers in the above case in the words and figures to wit



State of Tennessee

Monroe County



To any lawful county to execute and return. You are hereby commanded to 

summons Edward L. Van to appear before me or some other justice of said county 

to answer the complaint of John Griffith & Henry Marshall administrators of Wm 

Griffith decd in a plea of debt due by note under a warrant. Given under my 

hand and seal this 1st Oct, 1852.

(Endorsed) No 1963, Warrant, John N. Griffith & Henry Marshall ads Wm Griffith 

vs Edward L. Vann. Executed and set for trial before Wm Williams Esq. on the 

18 of October, 1852. R. Parks _____ Warrant 10, ______ 50, Judgment of the 

plaintiff for three dollars and seventy five cents and costs for which 

execution may issue. Given under my hand and seal Oct 18, 1852.

To any lawful officer of said county ________ _______ John Griffith and Henry 

Marshall administrators of William Griffith decd on the 18th day of Oct 1852 

before me William Williams one of the acting justices of the peace in and for 

said county ______ a judgment against Edward Vann for the sum of three dollars 

and seventy give cents together with the further sum of eighty five cents for 

costs which said judgment by you can therefore hereby commanded that of the 

goods and chattels lands _____ of the said Vann if to be found you _____ to be 

_____ the aforesaid sum of money with _______ interest in said judgment and 

also _______ and _______ in this execution herein _________ not and have you 

the said money ready to render to the plaintiffs as the law directs. Given 

under my hand and seal this 17th day of August 1853

Griffith vs Edward Van debt $3.75 warrant 10c officer 50c judgment 25c ____ 

______ 15c come to hand seventeenth August 1853 _______ made and our personal 

property of the _____ to be _______ in any county to make the plaintiffs in 

any part thereof but _______ within execution in one hundred and ten acres of 

land as the property of Edward Van adjoining the land of John Blanton 

Claiborne Blanton it being the land on which the said Van now lives this 19th 

August 1853 R. Parks ________



It is therefore commanded by the court that the so lived upon as aforesaid be 

condemned and sold to pay and satisfy the aforesaid judgment and costs 

together with the costs of this motion and that an order of sale issue 

accordingly and directed the Sheriff of Monroe County
