He died in Monroe County, November 25, 1834. He was born July 16, 1761, in Granville County. N. C. While he was a resident of Surry County, N. C., he enlisted in 1780 and served three months in Captain David Humphreys' company, Colonel McDowell's regiment. He enlisted again after the battle of Guilford Court House and served three months under the same officers. He moved after the Revolution to Randolph County., N. C., where he resided until 1808 or 1809. He resided there until 1828 when he became a resident of Monroe County. He married in 1781 in Surry County, N. C., Elizabeth Galaglee or Galagie. She died July 10, 1842, aged about 80 years. Children who survived the mother were: Nancy, married to Fuquay Beasley; William, Joel, John, Conway, Jr., Barsheba, married to William Hargus; Susan, married to Samuel Gilbreath, and Mary, married to Josiah Roberts.
