He was born in South Carolina and served in the South Carolina line under Captain Samuel Wise and Captain John Carraway Smith and Colonel William Thompson. He was in the battle of Sullivan's Island. He moved to Tennessee after the Revolution and lived several years in Montgomery County. He moved to Bond County, Illinois, where he died.
