I direct my Executor hereafter named to pay all my just debts. 2nd. The whole of my estate of every description, after the payment of my debts, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Margaret, for and during her natural life and at her death I give the same to my son Leland Henderson to hold to him and his heirs & assigns forever. 3rd. I nominate my son Leland Henderson executor to this my will and request that he shall not be required by the County Court upon his qualification, to give the security required of executors by the acts of the General Assembly. In witness whereof, I hereto subscribe my name and seal this the 5th day of July, 1849. Testator John Henderson (Seal) H. J. Donoho C. N. Bailey / Barley Additional Comments: Leland Henderson died prior to his mother leaving a wife of 4 years but no children. His wife outlived him by 4 days. I assume because of the laws of the day, her father inherited the estate. Leland's siblings bought his interst in land and slaves. There are many documents relating to this estate, most of which I have copies.
