McNeely to P.H. Carroll, 1890, 75 acres. From Obion County Court Records: Filed December 20, 1890 at 10 and ¼ o’clock a.m. and noted in note book #4, page 46 and recorded Dec 22, 1890. Book 3-A, p. 298. I, T.W. McNeely have this day for the consideration of seven hundred and twenty five dollars cash in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and one promissory note of J.A. Crowell made to P.H. Carrol for five hundred seventy seven and 50/100 dollars made the 15th day of Dec 1890 and due the 25th day of Dec 1891 and secured by deed in trust and by said P.H. Carrol transferred and endorsed to me and one note for thirteen hundred dollars made by said P.H. Carrol and payable to me and made even date with these presents and due the 25th day of Dec 1891 and to secure the payment of said note a lien is hereby retained on the hereafter described tract of land bargained sold and conveyed and do by these presents bargain sell and convey to P.H. Carrol his heirs and assigns forever the following described tract or parcel of land lying and being in the 8th civil district of Obion County Tennessee and bounded as follows: Beginning at an iron stob in the south east corner of T.W. McNeeley’s land and running south 70 2/3 poles with A.M. Holland’s east line to a stake in E.F. Askew north line thence east with said E.F. Askew north line 51 poles thence south with E.F. Askews east line 85 poles to a stake thence east with N.L. Midyett north line 52 poles to a stake G.J. Ramsey’s south west corner thence north 155 2/3 poles with G.J. Ramsey’s west line to a stake J.A. Turner’s south east corner thence west with said J.A. Turner’s south line 102 poles to the beginning containing by estimation 75 acres more or less. To have and to hold all of the above described tract of land and the improvements thereon to the said P.H. Carroll his heirs and assigns forever I covenant with the said P.H. Carrol that I am lawfully seized and possessed of said land and have a good right to convey it and that the same is free from all encumbrances and I bind myself my heirs and personal representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land to the said P.H. Carrol against the lawful claims of all persons, Witness my hand the 16th day of December, 1890.
