Filed Feb 6, 1890 at 2:00 pm and noted in notebook No 4, p. 15; registered Feb 17, 1890. We, J.D. Whitehorn and wife H.I. Whitehorn have this day for the consideration of Seven Hundred and Fifty Five dollars cash in hand paid by P.H. Carrol the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and one promissory note for seven hundred and fifty five dollars made even date with this conveyance and due on or before the 25th day of December 1890 with interest from date and made by the said P.H. Carrol and payable to J.D. Whitehorn and to secure & make certain the payment of said note a special lien is hereby retained on the hereinafter described tracts of land bargained sold and conveyed and do by these presents bargain sell and convey unto the said P.H. Carrol his heirs and assigns forever the following described tracts of land both of which are situated in the 8th district of Obion County Tennessee and bounded as follows beginning at J.H. Glissons northwest corner a stake with oak pointers running thence north with J.M. Burns east line 48 poles to a stake with oak elm and sassafras pointers thence east with D.F. Glissons south line 274 poles to the center of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad thence south 16 degrees east with the center of said railroad 56 poles to a stake at the point of intersection of said railroad by Amanda Glissons north line of dowery thence west with said dowery line 286 ½ poles to the beginning containing 91 acres and 13 poles and the other tract is situated as the above described one and bounded as follows beginnins in the center of the Mobile and Ohio railroad in the north boundry line of the dowery of Mrs Amanda Glisson Running thence east with said dower line 165 poles to the center of Rutherfords Creek thence north 25 degrees west 11 9/25 poles down said creek to stake thence north 53 degrees west and down said creek 19 poles to a stake thence north 24 degrees 30’ west and down said creek 24 poles to a stake thence north 11 degrees east and down said creek to the stake 15 poles thence west 159 poles to the center of said railroad thence south 16 degrees east about 60 poles to the beginning containing 60 acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aabove described tracts of land to the said P.H. Carrol his heirs and assigns forever we covenant with the said P.H. Carrol that we are lawfully seized and possessed of said land and have good right to convey it and that the same is free from all encumbrances and we bind ourselves our heirs and personal representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the above described tracts of land to the said P.H. Carrol and his assigns forever against the lawful claims of all persons and I, H.I. Whitehorn, join in this deed with my husband the said J.D. Whitehorn and do hereby convey all of my homestead interest in said lands. Witness our hands this 5 day of Feby 1890. J.D. Whitehorn and H.I. Whitehorn. The document is then notarized by Jno Potter.
