J.F. Johnson, Deed, five acres, Dist 11, sold to J.L. Coday. Filed Dec 8th, 1899 at 1:35 p.m. and noted in Note Book 5, page 114. Registered Dec 29, 1899. State of Tennessee, Obion County. I, J.F. Johnson for and in consideration of one hundred dollars due and payable on the 15th day of October, 1900, which is evidenced by the promissory note of J.L. Coday for said amount and bearing even date with this conveyance and bearing interest from date do bargain and sell in fee simple to J.L. Coday the following described parsel or tract of land situated in Obion County, Tennessee and in the 8th Civil Dist and bounded as follows: bounded beginning at a stake the N.W. corner of a tract heretofore sold to J.L. Coday by the heirs of Jno B. Arnold dec’d of 3 acres and runs east 40 poles to a stake in the N.B. line of the Arnold tract. Now J.F. Johnson then south 15 ˝ poles to a stake then West 93 1/3 poles to a stake in the J.F. Johnson Sr. tract E.B. line, then north 3 ˝ poles to a state the S.W. corner of a one acre tract heretofore sold to said Coday by Starkey Purvis, then East with the one acres and a 3 acre tract sold to said Coday by the Arnold heirs 53 1/3 poles to a stake the S.E. corner of the 3 acre tract, then north 12 poles to the beginning corner and containing five acres. To have and to hold to him the said Coday, his heirs and assigns forever, with appurtenances and all interest thereunto belonging and I covenant that I am lawfully seized and possessed of said land and that I have a lawful right to convey the same and that it is not incumbered, that I will warrant and defend the title against all persons whomsoever. An express lien is retained on said land to secure the certain payment of said note and interest. In testimony whereunto witness my seal and signature this the 1st day of July 1899.
