Freeman SETraveler@tngenes.net ==================================================================== LOVELADY CEMETERY Location: The Lovelady Cemetery is located in the southern portion of Putnam County. From Highway 136 heading south (towards White County) turn right on Lovelady Road (approxiamately 5 miles south of the intersection of I-40 and Highway 136; about 1/2 north of where Highway 136 and Highway 111 merge). Go about 1 mile to 1.5 up Lovelady Road. The cemetery is mostly on the left, but there are a few graves to the right of the road. Sign identifying the cemetery says: "Lovelady Cemetery Donated by the Nichols Family" This cemetery was orginally transcribed in the 1930s as part of the Works Progress Project. Mrs. Pat Franklin, the Putnam County Historian, surveyed the cemetery on Nov 18 1968. Using her listing, I surveyed the cemetery during October 1998 and then again in April 1999. Many of the tombstone inscriptions have eroded since earlier transcriptions. Many tombstones are either gone, sunken in the ground, or broken. Mrs. Franklin gave me permission to use her listing. The information in the [ ] was interjected by me. It contains the state of the stone as of 1998-1999 or family information that I am aware of. ** - indications a shared tombstone When transcribing the cemetery, I also made a map of the location of the stones. If you need this information please email me. Row 1, left to right; Tenn. Dearin [Information is no longer visible] Eliz.
