Roddy Cemetery Inscriptions Rhea County, Tennessee Roddy Community, formerly Prestonville Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by Edna Clack--- Woodchippy@aol.com Inventory as of November 1997 - Edna Clack This old Cemetery lies beside US Hwy 27. With the widening of the highway, it is now left on a short spur leading to the Wood family home and has been bypassed. This is one of the earlier cemeteries in this area. Only a good photograph could protray it's antiquity adequately. There are 5 graves covered with large slabs and 4 more that are outlined in such a way to make one think that they could have been at one time, or of the same or near era. It is still being used as of this date. All of these people are not related to the Roddy family. For example, the Ross child below. When I asked why he was there, I was told that some were put there because the family didn't have any where else to put them, or it was more convenient. Over-all, most of them are related. The Roddy family were among the earliest pioneers to Rhea County, Tn. They owned a large section of land in the Northern part of the county. Clarence L Ellison Mar 20, 1892 Aug 17, 1923 Nellie M.
