M. Majors died Monday, June 27th, 1904, at 4:30 p.m. W. B. Hurst of Texas was here about June the 17, 1904. July 7, 1904 Mrs. Susana Pickle here for dinner, Bettie took her to Roddy. 14 Vesta Galloway and her 4 children left here for their home at West Plains, Mo., on the 14th. Garrison & Keeling marriage (This was Mitch Keylon, my mother's uncle---ECS) 9 Killed 4 hogs nett weight 749 lbs. 20 & 23 Killed 2 hogs nett weight 344 lbs. Total 13 hogs nett 2448 lbs at 60 cts per lb $146.88 29 (pointing hand) Mrs. D.J. Clack died Jan 29th., 1905. Buried on the 30th at Rockwood. (This is Delpha Jane Wilson Clack, wife of Spencer Guess Clack--see Feb 5 below---ECS) 30 Yesterday & last night snowfall 6 1/2 inches. Mack is attending his Aunt Jennie's funeral today. 2 inches of snow fell on the 3rd of Feby. February 5, 1905 (pointing hand) Spencer G. Clack died Feb 5th, 1905 at 8:54 o'clock p.m. and was buried on the 6th at 3:30 p.m. at Rockwood. Rev. J. W. Carnes conducted the funeral service. (WR's brother -ECS) 8 Heavy sleet on the 8th. 9 The ground has been covered with snow since the 29th of January. 12 Snow fall this morning 2 1/2 inches. 13 Temperature 5 degrees below zero. 19 Snow fall 2 inches. 24 Papa sold J. H. Manis the balance of Mrs. Johnson's hay on time for $10.00. 25 Fire from train burned 130 panels of fence on the Johnson farm. March 9, 1905 Aunt Amy returned from Rockwood. 11 Trilby cow - took to Stinecipher's. 27 Rev. Philip Hages left a written contract between himself and George Cawood with Papa 3-27-1905. April 6, 1905 Papa bought 400 feet of rough lumber from Phelps at 50 cts per 100 ft = $2.00. 15 Papa let Galloway have 13 lbs bacon. 17 Frost and freeze - 18th frost. (pointing hand) Papa sent $1 to "The American ", sub. for L. Z. Tredway & renewal for J. Stinecipher. 22 Papa paid Emit Stout $2 for 4 days work. 23 Rec'd a box of strawberries from Mr. Brady. The return address is City Hotel, Clack & Redding, Proprietors, Royse City, Texas.- --ECS May the 21, 1905 Dear Brother and Sister I got your kind letter last week was truly glad to hear from you this .... me and all the children only tolarbley well my health is not very good any more. Yes Brother I got your letter telling of the recipt of those papers and I thought I had ansered it well I am at Dallas now staying a while with Mandy and Isham thay have moved hear to keep borders thay can get 4 and 5 dolars a week fer bordrs thay have a seven room house at 15 dolars a month thay think thay can do a good business hear. he can git one dolar and 50 cents a day for work besides his borders this has been one of the hottest springs ever known in Texe - every body is behind with their farm work and all have the blews think thay wont make any thing this year but I must tell you that old Royse is on a boom property is going up all the time They are puting up a fine flowering mill and elictrec lits a steam laundry and citty water works and ever so many new bricks and I hav had my house remodleded in side and out every body say it is worth one thousand dolars more than it was but it has worked a hard ship on me for a bot 2 years but if I can keep my health I will putt through some way. I pine to make the hotel my home but will stay a round with all the children Fred and Duke have the Hotel for three years. thay bought Wylie Clack interest and that is bought the lease from him he is the one that I least too and he improved the place and then Fred bought him out. Ewing for 6 bales of hay. 11 Papa is attending Court as a juror - 5 days $7.50. 14 Bought a Washer ($7.50) and a Ringer ($2.50) from Godsey for (paid Oct. 5th) $10.00. 19 Papa kept 42 head of sheep last night for Geo. Murray died August 9th., 1905 at 7:30 a.m. Jordan Miller & son was killed near Glen Alice, Tenn. Aug 16, 1905. Frazren and Williams are charged of the crime. Mack sold Bess cow for $20.00 3 Turned old sow with "Burk". 11 (pointing hand) Will Brady of Idaho accidentally shot and killed himself Apr 11, 1906, and his body was returned to Tennessee and buried in Old Friendship Church cemetery on the 17th of April, 1906, 11:30 a.m. 16 Mailed Sam & Vesta letter to H. Brady was shot and killed by Sam Padgett near Chattanooga, Tenn, Aug. 23, 1906. 25 and his body was buried at Old Friendship, Rhea Co, Tenn, at 10 a.m. Aug 25, 1906. 27 Finished baling.
