He was born April 4, 1763, in Frederick County, Va. He was living in Washington County, Va., when he substituted for his father, Samuel Evans, who was drafted in that county, in April, 1779. In September, 1780 he substituted for his brother, Joseph Evans, who was drafted in Washington County, He served under Lieut. Robert Campbell, Capt. Andrew Colville and Lieut. Col. William Campbell and was in the battle of King's Mountain. He had moved to Washington County, Va., before the War and after the War he moved to Knox County, Tenn., then to Grainger County, Tenn., then to Sevier County, and then to Rhea County, where he died.
