He was then 103 years old, therefore born 1730. He served in North Carolina toops as a substitute for William Deale. He was then living in Granville County, N. C. He served in the battles of Cowpens, Gate's Defeat, Guilford Court House, Eutaw Springs and King's Mountain. He lost a thumb in the battle of Cowpens.
