Roane County, TN County Court Minutes (located in the new {current}
courthouse):

July 24, 1822, The State versus Caleb Woods:  Came the Attorney General
and the Defendant in their proper persons who submits to the court and
the court having assessed his fine to $.50.  Daniel Thomas and James
Hankins came into court and together with the Defendant confessed
judgment (can't read two words) give aforesaid and the costs.  Therefore
it is considered by the court that the State recover of the Defendant and
Daniel Thomas and James Hankins the (can't read this word) the fine
aforesaid and the costs in his behalf (can't read this word) for which
execution may (can't read the last word).
Note:  Haven't yet found any record of the charges against Caleb Wood in
this.  Tricia Bledsoe 7/21/99.

[This is most likely connected to the beating of John Oliver
Caleb Wood's first wife was Polly Oliver.  Don't know if John is a
brother or the father of Polly, yet. - David Morgan ]
