Benjamin HENSLEY was the father of Margaret "Peggy" HENSLEY who married William GILES 14 Sep 1835 in Roane County. James Calvin "Calvin" GILES says in his Civil War questionnaire that his grandfather Benjamin HENSLY lived to be 112. I believe he was actually referring to Robert, who may not have lived to be 112 but who was *very* long-lived. (Calvin's questionnaire with questions and transcription is viewable at .) Robert is not in Benjamin's household for 1860; he has likely died between the two censuses. At any rate, I have not yet located him in the 1860 census. I believe both he and his son Benjamin are buried in Roane County, TN (likely somewhere in the area where contemporary Roane, Loudon, and Monroe Counties intersect and where county lines have shifted over the years). I have transcribed Robert's service record (NARA S. 4353). (It is online at . A text-only version of the transcript is available from that page. Sources: 1.
